Myrtle Estep Rowe, 89, of Hopewell passed away on Sunday, July17, 2011 in Southside Regional Medical Center. She was born in Blackey, Virginia on February 22, 1922 to Lidge and Martha Missouri Baker Estep. Her family relocated to the Bradshaw Mountain area of McDowell County in West Virginia. Mrs. Rowe was hard working and loved gardening, canning and sewing. She served the Lord in her everyday life and was a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church. She was a retired manager of Rose’s Department Store. She is survived by six children, Gene Olen Rowe, Hazel Jude, Birdie Sargent, Hobert Lee Rowe, Betty Rowe and Phyllis Rowe Cornelius; twelve grandchildren, Stephanie, Cynthia, Sheila, Roy, Sheri, Heather, David, Maria, Angie, Matthew, Stephen and William; sixteen great grandchildren, Kristin, Courtney, Lauren, Katy, Morgan, Laura, Elli, Tarah, Joseph Lee, Elizabeth, Jeffrey, Alex, Rachel, Sofie, T.J., and Christian. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Merchants Hope Episcopal Church with Rev. Andy Paul officiating. Interment will follow in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens.
