Roger Dean Naragon, 68, of Hopewell passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2010. He is preceded in death by his parents Gerard and Fayetta Naragon. He is survived by his wife Malsoon Naragon, two sons; James and Roger Naragon, brother; Gary Naragon, two sisters; Judy Nickerson, Sharon Alamon, and other family and friends. Mr. Naragon retired from the United States Army after many years of service, and proudly served our Country during the Vietnam War. He received many decorations including, National Defense Service Medal, Army of Occupational Medal (Germany), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Combat Infantryman Badge, Bronze Star, Overseas Service Bars x3, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon x2, Good Conduct Medal (8th Award), Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal, and Non Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon with Numeral 3. After retiring from the military he went to work for Synoptic Corporation for eight years. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, April 8, 2010 at the Nelsen Funeral Home 214 N. 6th Ave, Hopewell VA, 23860 where services will be held 10:00 AM on Friday, April 9, 2010 with a 2:00 PM interment at Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia 10300 Pridesville Rd Amelia, VA 23002.
